“Family Memories Series No. 5“, oil on canvas Zhu Yiyong
Featured at ART NOW, is 798 Gallery. A little known treasure and tucked away in the bowels of the carpeted monstrosity that is ART NOW, is the most beautiful collection of Mainland Chinese artwork from an assortment of really talented Chinese artists. My favorites include the sepia toned portraits of children holding red yarn in their hands forming a 5-pointed star. The same star associated with Peoples Republic of China and otherwise known as the pentagram. These images are really amazing. (798 Gallery)
I finally got to see this 3D sculpture in person at White Walls Gallery at Aqua Hotel. Pictures do NOT do this justice. It is gorgeous and well crafted and every piece is highlighted. It is gorgeous.
Not to be confused with our Art of Walk, this is a really fun event at Art Basel. Teams of artists, art-lovers, art collectors, and art dealers battle it out paintball style on the grounds of the Raleigh Hotel.
WHAT? Yes for real. And prizes for the winning teams are include David Yurman Titanium Dog Tags, limited edition Andrew Cramer KMK Prints, and Literary Society Memberships!

Funny artist outta Maryland, did not catch his name, but makes these beautiful cake related artwork – totally edible – of Britney Spears and other pop icons. You can see here that Britney has had a slice cut out of her butt.
Obligatory Obama cake slice.
This camo Santa Claus was found at Bridge Art, I believe and has been created by artists Burtonwood and Holmes. Originally mistaken for a giant camo garden gnome.
