ENGLAND IS DEAD by FOOX

England is Dead” takes a few different thoughts I had on the progress and growth of a particular empire (The British Empire to be exact). In my view it all starts out with a brave and fearless conquerer (ie: Conquest by Richard the Lionheart or Ælfred the Great). If you are lucky that conquerer places some emphasis on education and the arts. From there civilisation moves into a Discovery phase and eventually if (and when) laziness and personal embarrassment of the empire’s achievements sets in, we can see that empire shrink and even die.

England is Dead” began years earlier shortly after the London subway and train bombings. The painting was never really complete and only recently have I had time to work on it properly. Finally, today, after many promises, it is finished. Everything is hand painted including the caution tape and lettering. Right now – this moment – it is also my favorite painting and one that I feel I can be proud of – from a conceptual and technical perspective.

Lattes & Gingerbreadmen, please allow me to present to you “England is Dead“:
