A finer establishment there exists not and so sayeth artists and designers worldwide.
]]>FEBRUARY 2010:

myHeart painted by David Foox for Jacqueline Reyes for Valentine’s Day and first posted by Carlovely and then reposted 2000+ times in a few hours. Front page of TUMBLR Radar and the basis painting behind the entire show at Lyons Wier months down the line (and unknown at the time).
MARCH 2010:

FOOX finishes his first self portrait. This one representing rebirth, victory, and closure – shutting out evil forever. “Vampire Love” by David Foox. sold. timelapse videos part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4. And featured in the Soho House Magazine (Issue 14).
APRIL 2010

Filmed ballerina video titled “L’incroyable Symbolisme de FOOX” and featuring the world’s most prestigious and professional ballet dancers. Hailing from American Theater Ballet (ABT), NY City Ballet, and Los Angeles City Ballet, it was a Blessed moment and the filming went smoothly and fun. Captured and edited by Rob Gilbert of DECON Media. (more pics here)

JUNE 2010

David Foox original painting “SUPERHERO HEARTS” exhibited at Strychnin Gallery at SCOPE Art Fair in Art Basel, Switzerland. Painting goes to collector in Miami Beach. This is FOOX’s first time to have artwork exhibited at the very prestigious SCOPE Art Fair and also a very special moment to work with Strychnin Gallery in Berlin.
JUNE 2010

FOOX rolling with some other creative types including Liam and Aesha, Ranoly Santiago (from Hackers the movie), Nathan Hamill, Mysto & Pizzi, Ocie, Michael K Williams, Kid Zoom, Mark Ronson, Jason Statham, and met up with Richard Gere and Alec Baldwin (but that all comes later!)

JUNE 2010

FOOX Worked with Red Bull Energy Drink on some cool stuff – including new Red Bull Bucks and an entirely proposed sensory stimulating environmental art experience. Working with the big guys.

And June continued to be a busy month. FOOX released the first edition of the BUDDHA BUCKS WALLET and opened his solo show at Lyons Wier here in NYC. It was also the month in which he designed the first Big Money print (FORTUNE)

You may recognize him as Omar from The Wire or Chalky White from Boardwalk Empire. He’s the man and he knows how to protect his money.
JUNE 2010

David Foox (FOOX) debuts first solo show in NYC since 2008 with “As Within So Without” at Lyons Wier Gallery in Chelsea. The show features backlit X-Rays of artists, property developers, businessmen and women, and celebrities. FOOX X-Ray artwork was subsequently featured in The Wall Street Journal (a conservative rag not known for its coverage of pop art) and celebrities include Mark Hamill and Marc Ecko and others undisclosed.

JULY 2010
And then I was featured on (although I have never seen the footage) Rosey Popay TV Show for Bravo that had an episode with an artist (me).

AUGUST 2010
August took FOOX West, both for San Diego Comic Con and meetings with a whole bunch of folk. He painted the Red and Green Dragons for Nathan Hamill and also created a four foot replica of his ORGAN DONOR toys for The International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago (curated show by Vanessa Ruiz of StreetAnatomy fame).

Then there was the 4 Foot ORGAN DONOR. A cornea to be precise. And inducted into The International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago.

FOOX artwork even made its way into Italian PhD students theses and published journal reports.

OCTOBER 2010
October proved to be a super busy month and very hectic. FOOX finally completed the 4 Ram paintings (Water, Earth, Air, and Fire). All 4 paintings sold.

This then led to being included in ART WALK: Charity for Coalition for the Homeless and cohosted by Richard Gere and Alec Baldwin. FOOX artwork was featured and hung alongside such greats as Warhol, Rosenquist, Swoon, Fairey, Clemente, and a raft of other modern and really amazing artists. WATER Ram was included in this event.

NOVEMBER 2010

FOOX started playing with Magic Numbers, FOOX’s Fifth Letter print series sells out completely, and FOOX launches his first poster “FAITH COMES” (first 100 handsigned).

FOOX featured on CNET as an expert on the nexus between Law and Art and in between offering his two cents worth, FOOX hung out with Paul Pope and Frank Miller in some weird mindspace.

And then shit went crazy in December…
DECEMBER 2010

Using the number stamp to authenticate The Fifth Letter print series (Big Money prints), FOOX stamped out the faces of his RAM Series onto the walls of FOOX HQ (much to the chagrin of Tara) (more pics here)

And finally (!) images of prototypes Elemental Badgers. A huge step in the right direction and set backs have been overcome.
See images at Saatchi Online and below! For As Above So Below!

In addition to all these wonderful developments, FOOX is proud to support many charities this year including: F.E.E.S.A (through Cardboard Spaceship Toys), WWF (through Humanscale’s Faces in the Wild Charity), Coalition for the Homeless (through Art Walk), Donate for Life New York (through Lyons Wier Gallery), Gift of Life Michigan (through 323East Gallery), MarbleRoad (through Howard Liebers), and LCKM@ (through Stephen Benzel). Collectively, FOOX has raised thousands and thousands of dollars for these charities and all go to help make people’s lives better or less sad. More positivity and better experiences.

Whether you’re cruising the rooftop at Soho House NY amidst world famous artists Mr Brainwash (Exit Through the Gift Shop @ Sunshine Theaters) and FOOX (”As Within So Without” @ Lyons Wier Gallery) or watching the Staten Island Ferry wax and wane @ FOOX Studios on State Street ~ NYC and FOOX are now BFF.
FOOX, a native of Africa and reared in New Zealand, exhibits a body of work based upon X-Rays and vinyl paint backlit on custom light boxes. Hustler of Culture hit us up.

Coming right on the cusp of FOOX’s first art film “L’Incroyable Symbolisme de FOOX” (sneak peak look into the film) is Rocketboom’s first encounter with FOOX. Bearded, grizzly, and filled with LOVE, FOOX opens up to viewers on his perspective on the art world, popular culture and toys. And the energy between Ella and FOOX is very interesting. Ella being a Leo.

Now looking to the future FOOX is working closely with JUMP shoes to bring about holy rollers for your dogs (aka feet). Then you can play footsies with your friendsies. FOOX Shoes in the works. And a collaboration with Red Bull for late September is set to blow your socks off.
And around the corner is San Diego Comic Con, the launch of the FOOX iPhone app, and the very long awaited and overdue FOOX Elemental Badgers! All the while, we do it FOOXie style.

Spent the day sketching frames for a short animation sequence on the iPhone application I am working on. Here’s a snapshot of one of the sequences. It’s the blinking left eye.
